Photo Update (Sept 24-28)

Photo (Sept. 24-28) updated.
Please check out the photo album for more pictures.

Math workbook: review colors red and blue.

We had a pomelo race to celebrate the Moon Festival.

Toy show and tell on Tuesday.

Art Class: We made lions with pomelos.

School outing to the Baby Boss.  Children were all excited to be on the school bus.

We originally planned to visit those popular stations that we talked about in class and children really wanted to experience with, such as hospital, fire station and police station. But we didn't because of the long waiting lines. Instead, we visited two other stations at the Baby Boss. This was our first station, the shipping dock.

This was our second station at the Baby Boss, the archaeology site.  Teachers were not allowed to go in with students.  We can only see them on the big screen outside of the station.

Theme Class: Children build up their language skills through stories. They learn to listen to teachers, answer questions, ask questions and discuss what happen in the stories together.

Cooking Class: Chocolate Bird Nests with Teacher Jennifer.

Phonics Class: Learning letter "C".

We talked about the Moon Festival and tasted some moon cake in class.

Finishing up letters A, B and C, we reviewed letter-sound-words in the phonics class on Friday. Some students are still not familiar with the vocabulary.  We will keep reviewing.

Phonics Class: We reviewed letter-sound-words through games.

Reading Corner: Numbers and Colors

Developing a habit of reading is very important for young learners.  At the reading corner, students learn to read posters, sentence patterns, storybooks and picture books. At this little corner, children learn to read with teacher’s assistants, read together with friends and also learn to read independently. Following is our first poster reading.  Feel free to print it out and read with your child at home.

One red apple.
Two orange pumpkins.
Three yellow stars.
Four green trees.
Five blue whales.
Six purple eggplants.
Seven pink pigs.
Eight red strawberries.
Nine orange carrots.
Ten yellow bananas.

Following are videos of students’ readings. Enjoy!

Children were all excited making their own apple milk.

One poster every two month.  We create a reading environment in the classroom for kids.
Kids would read the posters during break time, after lunch and after school.

We were trying to make letter "A" with our bodies.

Writing Class: Letter "A"
Instead of coloring the alphabets, I let students trace the letters to build up their writing skills.
Students in Apple Class could not hold pencils as their fingers are not strong enough yet.  Therefore we use big crayons to write.

Water Time
Drinking water is very important for little children.

Math Class: Learning about shapes.

We are elephants!! ^_^

Outdoor Time: London Bridge Falling Down

Math Class: Learning about shapes
Making watermelon using squares and triangles.

We didn't go to the park because of the rain.  We played at the back of our school instead.

Students fold their sleeping bags by themselves after nap time.

Math Class: Reviewing Numbers 1~10
We were trying to make letter "B" with our bodies.

Cooking Class: Rice Ball

Last month, we learned about weather, days and food.
